This is a general music class where we explore and discover many different aspects of music. The students will use Orff instruments (xylophone, glockenspiel, metallophone, & drums) as well as Yamaha keyboards. We will also do a great deal of singing. Kindergarten through 3rd grade will have music once every six school days. Fourth and fifth grades will have music every five school days. Every grade level will have the opportunity to perform for their parents: Thursday, October 6th, 4th grade performance Thursday, November 3rd, 3rd grade performance Thursday, December 1st, 5th grade musical Thursday, February 2nd, 2nd grade performance Friday, February 24th, Talent Show Thursday, March 8th, 1st grade performance Thursday, May 3rd, Kindergarten performance Beginning September 12th on Monday & Thursday mornings, 3rd, 4th, & 5th grade students will have the opportunity to sing in the Sedalia Park Chorus, which will rehearse before school from 7:15-7:45 a.m. in the music room. No audition is required. My goal for all Sedalia Park students is that they enjoy music and have fun learning! Mr. Wehr Nearly 100% of past winners in the prestigious Siemens Westinghouse Competition in Math, Science and Technology (for high school students) play one or more musical instruments. This led the Siemens Foundation to host a recital at Carnegie Hall in 2004, featuring some of these young people, after which a panel of experts debated the nature of the apparent science/music link.
