Clinic

Smurfs_Color_Pictures_Nurse_Smurfette

My name is Traci Baggett, RN.  I am the school nurse here at Sedalia Park. My nursing experience has been exclusively pediatrics.  Because of my experience you should feel confident that your child is going to receive the best possible care if they should become sick or injured while at school.  I am always available for any questions or concerns that you may have in regards to your child’s health.  Below are some quick reminders about the clinic:

  • The clinic is open from 7:30 to 2:30 each school day
  • The extent of first aid treatment provided in the clinic for minor illness/injury is ice packs, cold/warm compresses, band aids/bandages, drink/snack and rest.
  • All children are assessed in the clinic.  I will use my best nursing judgment to provide care based on that assessment.  I am not a doctor and cannot diagnose a child’s ailment.
  • The clinic does not stock over the counter medication for headaches, stomach aches, colds or cough.  These medications must be brought to school by the parent with a signed authorization to give the medicine. Medication must be in its original container.
  • All children with a fever of 101.2 or greater must go home.  They must be free from fever for 24 hours before they can return to school.
  • All children with diarrhea more than once must go home.  They cannot return to school until 24 hours from the last episode of diarrhea.
  • All children who vomit more than once must go home.  They cannot return to school until 24 hours from the last vomiting episode.
  • All forms, information and policies in regards to student health services can be found on the Cobb County Schools main web page under Student Health Services.

Please remember that sending your child to school sick puts all other students and staff at risk of becoming ill.
