Transfer Procedures at Sedalia Park

Rationale: Sedalia Park is a Georgia Conversion Charter School. As such, the staff supports providing the opportunity for school choice for parents. The following procedures have been established by the Governing Board in an effort to make the transfer process transparent and fair to all.

Transfer Procedures:

Sedalia Park has an attendance zone established by the Cobb County School District Board of Education.  First priority is on serving the families that reside in that attendance zone. The number of open spaces for transfer students will be determined by the Governing Board at the May meeting, based on current staff allotment, pre-registration of kindergarten students and classroom space.

All parents living in the Cobb County School District who are interested in transfer and agree to maintain the criteria for transfer may complete an application for transfer prior to April 30.  The Governing Board will hold a lottery drawing at the May meeting from applications on file to fill open space in grade levels kindergarten, first and second.

Transfer Procedures for Cobb County School District employees:

Cobb employees wishing to bring their child to Sedalia Park must complete the employee transfer form and have it signed by their Area Superintendent.  The transfer is automatically approved and the child may remain on transfer as long as the family maintains all criteria required for transfer students.

Transfer Procedures for Siblings of students currently on transfer:

Siblings of students currently on transfer and whose family has maintained all transfer criteria are automatically accepted into kindergarten as transfer students at Sedalia Park if they have submitted a Registration Intent form to the school by March 30, 2012. Registration Intent forms will be sent home with transfer students the week of March 12, 2012.  These students do not go into the lottery process.

Criteria for Transfer Students:

  • Good attendance defined as 5 or fewer unexcused absences or tardies
  • Good behavior defined as the child adheres to the expectations stated on the Contract for Learning and has no office referrals.
  • Good home/school relationships: Parents adhere to the expectations on the Contract for Learning.
  • Students are successful in meeting Georgia Performance Standards and/or attend all suggested tutoring and re-teaching sessions offered.
